MOOD BOARD
Aesthetic rules are to be based off of French Creole architecture,18th century, Timber frame with
brick or "Bousillage" Thin wooden columns/pilasters, including French doors.
Shape and form rules are to include French Colonial style mouldings derived from simple
boards and quirk and bead trim. In more complex areas, trim shapes such as coves,
quarter-rounds, ogees and ovolos are to be used. Column capitals may be composite.
Color palette: dominant neutrals are going to be a warm grayscale and chocolate brown.
Dominant hues are going to be muted brick red. The accent hues will be shades of blue and
gold brassy metals.
Focal points and Adjacency rules: brass horn collection, brick accent walls against exterior
walls, dining table is also for card games.
Rhythm and flow rules: the flow will be emphasized in the apartment in order to maximize
mobility for him and his elderly friends, the open floor spaces also mimic french quarters.
Pattern and Texture rules: concrete and stucco textures will be juxtaposed against smooth
plaster walls to emphasize their contrast. The textiles will have some tight knit patterns and
tweed textures to hide blemishes. Some upholstery will be worn tufted leather to keep clean
easier.
